 Biography

Dr. Kanak Bala obtained her PhD in Life Sciences from University of Burgundy at Dijon in France (2007). She is a versatile and inventive Scientist and her research objectives during PhD included developing biopesticides as an eco-friendly alternative to replace agrochemicals for use in agricultural crops. During her doctoral research, she received prestigious international mobility fellowships for conducting research projects at University of Reims (France), Centre de Recherche Public-Gabriel Lippmann (Luxembourg), Ecole d'horticole de Lullier (Jussy, Switzerland), Agricultural Research Organization-Volcani Centre (Israel) and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Isarel). After completing her PhD, she joined Eastern Cereal and Oilseed Research Centre at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Ottawa, Canada as a postdoctoral scientist in 2008. Since then, she has carried out multidisciplinary collaborative research projects on fungal and fungal-like plant pathogens in the field of Plant Pathology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Ottawa, Canada in conjunction with Trent University, University of Ottawa and Carleton University. She has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and conference papers in national and international journals. She is editor of several international and peer-reviewed journals such as, EC Microbiology-ECronicon and MedCrave Online Journal of Microbiology and Experimentation. She is currently Scientific Consultant at Freelance in Laval, Quebec, Canada and also an Adjunct Faculty at School of Basic & Applied Sciences, ANAND International College of Engineering, and Jaipur, India.
